Kickboxing is a stand-up martial arts that involves striking and defense. For striking, there are various forms of kicking, punching, kneeing and elbowing. Defenses includes blocking, slipping and ducking. It is a sport that evolved from Western boxing, Karate and Muay Thai. Kickboxing started in the 1960’s in Japan.
Kickboxing is a ‘hard’ martial art as it allows a more aggressive style of contact. It is a fast-paced sport requiring cardio and muscular endurance. Kickboxing is a good way to relieve stress, increase flexibility, stamina and strength. Also, students will develop the speed of their reflexes and their co-ordination. Students learn this martial arts for fitness and as a competitive sport.
